Tourism is the largest industry on this planet. Yet, very little is happening there in terms of genuine innovation.
Whoever travels - either sometimes or often, either for leisure or business - knows about the pitfalls of travelling. Time is wasted in transit and ever-increasing security controls, airplane food and service is getting worse all the time, hotel rooms are bland, exchangeable and without discernible local character.
The first part of this investigation into travelling is a design futures project called parallel places - a collection of designs to improve the travelling experience.
The second part continued as a workshop led by Mario Gagliardi in Aalborg University, Denmark: Hotel Scenario.
